Braga

Built over 2000 years ago, "Bracara Augusta" was justly founded by Augustus, situated on one of the main Roman roads of the Iberian Peninsula, it was the administrative headquarters of the Empire. The Diocese of Braga, Roman province of Galicia, current Galicia, is the oldest in Portugal and in the Middle Ages, it rivalled Santiago de Compostela in power and importance. The road to Santiago de Compostela went by here, when worshiping began to have greater expression, with Christian reconquest and the implementation of Portugal.

Guimarães

Historic town of medieval origin, has its roots in the tenth century and is known as the "Cradle of the Nation" or "Cradle City", due to its crucial role in the implementation of Portugal, the administrative centre of the Portucalense county/shire established here by D. Henrique and due to the fact that his son, D. Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugual, possibly having been born here.
